Meet the Team

Chris Till

With us since: The start in 1990 Hobbies/interests: Golf, football, coaching youth football, good food generally! Best bit: Seeing clients come back into the office after helping them 20 years ago – Greys is built on a relationship with the community whereby we look after them and they look after us with recommendations for friends and family. Also seeing our staff grow and develop into competitive yet caring professionals who will always, always go that extra yard to help the buying and selling process. Top tip to a client: I honestly believe there is a massive difference between the corporate estate agency machine and the truly independent agent, as we are. We are not backed by massive insurance backed funding – we have to sell houses, not mortgages or switching electricity providers. Selling houses is our business and we do it well. Each member of staff is paid through the OFFICE bankings – not individual targets that create a hostile environment in which to work. We create a true team in the office where they will all do what they can to help YOU. It is this team that you should place your trust in – that way you get the best possible price and the best possible care. I am truly proud of Greys in every way – it has not been easy through the years in turbulent economic times – but every time it is the community that has helped us – and we know that.

With us since: May 2002 Hobbies/interests: Tennis, football, anything on the water, festivals, motor racing, good food, spending time with friends and family. Best bit: As an independent company, it's rewarding to hear we've become an integral part of the community providing a service local residents know they can trust. Achieving results for our clients and providing an un-rivalled service is top of our agenda. With extensive local knowledge and experience, we aim to maintain the strong reputation we have built over the years. Managing a business, which continues to be first choice for many local residents is a huge team and personal achievement considering the current vulnerable economy and other factors affecting this difficult industry. Every day presents us with a new challenge. Top tip to a client: Buying and selling property can be a stressful process but it's always harder when working to exact dates as it puts you under added pressure. With that in mind, try not to manage your world around a certain day (during the conveyancing process) and we'll work with the solicitors to get you moving as soon as possible. Other than that, I'd recommend having a for sale board and presenting your home as best as you can for viewings. If I'm honest, I always think it's better if the owners are not there for the initial viewing as it is far less uncomfortable for both parties and we'll be able to come back to you with far more accurate and constructive feedback. The rest is down to us.

With us since: June 2011 Hobbies/interests: In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends whether it's in town shopping or on a night out. I also like to keep active by going to the gym regularly. Best bit: The best part of my job is working within a strong team who strive to be the best. We each have our individual roles within the office and ensure we are doing each task the best we can, this enables us to be effective and in our opinion the best local agent. Top tip to a client: Selling a house is a stressful experiences so my advice would be to stay calm and trust us that we are doing everything we can to get the sale through.

With us since: September 2015 Hobbies/interests: Football, going to the gym and skiing Best Bit: For me the best thing has to be helping people with one of the trickiest processes around. Buying a house is something that requires such a large amount of guidance; to be able to give any form of help is something that gives me a real sense of achievement.

With us since: July 2002 Hobbies/interests: Squash, Badminton, Hiking, Cooking, Cinema, Music, Literature and Art Best bit: 1. Working within a highly motivated, experienced and successful team environment. 2. Negotiating the highest achievable values for both Vendors and Landlords. 3. Gaining constant repeat business and recommendations. Top tip to a client: Beware of unusually high property valuations for both sales and rental properties. This usually happens by either inexperience or is used as an inappropriate tool to gain an instruction at a higher fee. The end result usually results in poor viewings levels and many price reductions before a sale is agreed. My advice would be to always ask for comparable evidence of what has been sold or rented within your immediate area.

With us since: August 2004 Hobbies/interests: Adventure Racing such as Trail Running, Mountain Biking, Triathlons, plus Football and anything active or outdoors. Best bit: I like to work in a close knit team within a close knit community. The areas we cover are ideal as people like to move locally and we can help in every aspect of this. I enjoy dealing with clients from the initial stage of valuation to getting a sale through and handing over the keys. A great sense of achievement for all involved in the process. I also like the relationships we build up with clients over a short period of time and see the evidence of this in repeat business. Top tip to a client: I always recommend keeping everything local - a local agent has area knowledge, a local financial adviser can be visited in person and a local solicitor has experience and can guide you through the transaction face-to-face. Keeping it local also benefits the community and speeds up the buying and selling process.

With us since: February 2012 Hobbies/interests: Walking, Swimming, Cinema, Baking and watching Rugby Best bit: Overseeing the management of upto 200 rented properties. Top tip to a client: There is a lot of work involved with renting out a property, be it on the preparation side or on the legal side if issues occur. I would always recommend a Full Management Service for peace of mind if you were in any doubt as a first time landlord.

Lisa Chapman

With us since: February 2014 Hobbies/interests: Socialising with friends and family and going to the cinema with or without my two adorable children. Best bit: Working with a friendly, close-knit team, providing office support for them whilst they deal with the important job of selling and finding new homes for our clients. Top tip to a client: Speaking from personal experience, when selling your home, try and turn it into a 'blank canvas' and de-clutter as much as you can to make it more appealing to the potential buyer. Also, when looking for your new home, it can be a good idea to have a drive around the local area of the property before making an appointment to view it.

Chris Hardy

With us since: October 2000 Hobbies/interests: Everything to do with Property; spending time with Family and Friends; Holidays; Football; Squash; Keeping Fit; F1 and Racing. Best bit: The staffing structure and close relationship within Greys is key. Whatever the market, this environment makes it simple for us all to regularly review the Company's performance and adapt our approach to make sure that we improve, that service levels are unbeatable and that fees are competitive. Top tip to a client: Firstly, I'd always avoid Multi Agency marketing! Only instruct one agent to sell your home. It's cheaper, you have much more control and your property will look far more appealing to buyers when they are flicking through the property websites. You also avoid the stresses involved with being caught up in a battle between Estate Agents after an offer is received. Secondly, have a board up. Besides being one of the best tools available, ours are quite good looking and potential buyers will know that you are serious about moving if you have one.
